About Us

Rebecca Heimbuck
About me: Born and raised in Billings. I attended schools in the Billings area and graduated from Montana State University-Billings with a BA in history.
Besides Billings history, I also study Napoleonic history. I like to hang out with my dogs and I play piano and violin.
The reasons for the page: I wanted to have a dedicated page that focused on Billings history to bring awareness to and celebrate the local area and people of the Billings area.

Tana Melius Hanson
Hi, I’m Tana—a graphic designer born and raised in Billings, Montana.
My love for local history has been shaped by the stories shared by my parents, older friends, and anyone willing to reminisce. I’ve thrifted and shopped this town since I can remember—from Crazy Days downtown in the ’70s to secondhand treasure hunts in the ’80s, and even working at Jay Jacobs in Rimrock Mall.
When I discovered Billings, Montana As She Was and Is, curated by Rebecca, I fell in love with the vivid stories and rich, comprehensive history she brings to life. This shop is my way of honoring the places we’ve lost but never forgotten—one shirt (and story) at a time.
