Known for its bold claim of being “the beer that made Milwaukee jealous,” Billings Brewing Co. lit up the skyline in 1910 with a huge electric rooftop sign. The display featured 920 white and yellow bulbs that animated a bottle pouring beer into a glass—an unmistakable landmark for the city. During Prohibition, the brewery shifted to soda, returning to beer in 1933 before closing in 1951.
