Golden Belle
The Golden Belle in the Northern Hotel was elegant but edgy, a blend of high-society veneer and subtle scandal—complete with flambé, velvet, and “romantic” art. It served as a rite-of-passage venue: you dressed up, went out, and felt grown-up. Parents, grandparents and kids all share stories connected to that space. It embodied a more theatrical age of dining—where service was as much about showmanship with food gongs announcing flaming kebabs, shrimp flambéed at your table, cherries jubilee, and the fiery “Don Juan” cocktail. Stories from the waiters and bus boys can still be found on Facebook and are very entertaining...
