Pioneer Park was planted on ranchland in 1912, officially named to honor Montana’s trail‑blazing settlers in 1918, and dedicated with fanfare (including speeches by Mayor and Judge Goddard) on July 27, 1932. Landscape architect Dorothy Gray crafted its layout—playgrounds, tennis courts, even an amphi-theater footprint—for fun under the open sky, and her work still echoes today through events like Symphony in the Park.
